The Peruvian dog viringo, a prehistorical dog from the Inca period and thus protected as cultural heritage. They are threatened with extintion and therefore the governement started projects to protect them. Their body temperature is 40 degrees Celsius and they do not have all of their teeth (only 1 to tear apart meat, so they do not eat so much meat).
Chan Chán, part of the walls of the administrative centre of one of the 9 palaces of this Chimú civilization, a civilization of which is not known many things and most of the knowledge is speculation. So for every item there are multiple possible explanations.
The hallucinating cactus plant San Pedro used as a painkiller for humans who were ritually offered (in both civilizations).
El Huaco Arco Iris (huaco = tempel), part of the 20 km Chan Chán city: 14 km is protected nowadays. The ocean came up to this point so the Chan Chán territory started at the coast all the way up to the mountain. Because the mountain was one of the most important gods in the Chimú and Moche culture.
Huanchaco, surfing paradise at the Pacific. In the picture: not surfing boards but totora boats ('riet' in Flemish).
