I will be leaving Jaén one week sooner than planned. On the 3oth of June I start the travelling part of my trip. But I still have some short stories to share with you.
- Our trip to the border of Ecuador. For our visa we had to travel to Ecuador. Because I sleep easily in cars, planes, trains, ... was leaving at 4.3o am sharp no big deal. Or so I thought... the road was horrible. Once arrived in Namballe we had to do a little go and back across the river in order to receive our stamps. But it worked, we were 2 days in Ecuador...not :-).
- Here in Jaén people are sitting with three on a motorbike, with 9 in a car. No te preocupes! (hakuna matata)
- On the main square a police officer shot himself. Suicide. Some say he was playing with his gun, others claim it is a love thing. The idiom 'news runs fast' was demonstrated in this town.
- Jaén celebrated its 187th birthday. There was a circus in town, guitar players from Peru were invited and a band played on the main square. But on that event people forgot the show in front of them, they prefered to look, or let us say stare, at the two whities.
- Yesterday I ate a different type of maïs. Oh boy, my stomach protested on that one afterwards. It became so badly that I prefered to leave the village La Cascarilla a bit sooner then expected. On moto. Should have been fun, but every hole in the road gave me a painful contraction. On a world scale not so bad off course. Again another adventure ;-).
- The television shows here, telenovelas, are full of drama and complications (in love with A, once married to B, a child from C and engaged to D). The Bold and the Beautiful is peanuts if you would compare. The show 'Betty la fea' (Ugly Betty in the States, Lotte in Holland and Sara in Belgium) originates from Colombia. I can see why now :-).
