How does daily life here for me look like?
I wake up quiet early, which is surprising for those who lived with me, I knoooooow. But I´ll tell you something else: I even get up without setting the alarm. Reasons: I don´t go to bed really late (around 11 pm) and it is just too hot to stay in bed long. And life begins pretty early here, so there is already a lot of streetnoise.
I eat breakfast at señora Nora´s and then I cross the street to my workplace.
Another amazing thing: I work from around 8.30 am up untill 7 or 8 pm. I really do! There is a lot of general and daily work for Elar, Juan and Nicanor which means that we, Eva and I, come in handy in doing extra jobs, which are also important. We write articles for the news letter, translate documents, update the website, ... And we try to find out what else we can do to enlighten their work a bit. There is possibility for own ideas and projects. So Eva and I have already plenty of them :-). Eva wants to make a booklet with stories from the villagers, I made a folder yesterday and want to think of a photo database system. And we both are eager to work on the website. Again, three months will not be enough.
In the evening I eat again at señora Nora´s or some place else, it depends. Eva goes folklore dancing, but I enjoy the peace and calmth of the house and my room. I read and study some Spanish, but off course if there is a party you won´t see me in that room ;-).
There have been other days. When we go to the villages, the day starts at 6.30 am with a long drive through the mountains, a meeting there, dinner and a long way back with loooots of (singing) people in the pick up car.
Today it is Earth Day and the children of the primary school have run in a mars throught the streets of Jaén, dressed in recycled clothing, butterflies, trees and with lots of noise.
The food is nice; you wouldn´t believe what things they can make with mais. Breakfast is heavy (meat, rice, potatoes, eggs, ...), but that also means my stomach does not protest up untill 5 or even 6 pm. We have not yet tried to visit the swimming pool, but we will. Soon.
Apart from the mosquito bites (and my small allergy on that), I have not been ill ( you know, the usual holiday deseases, nothing big) so far. I hold my breath (not too long off course otherwise I will be ill).
I you have questions, just shoot!
