I left Coquimbo (15 minutes from La Serena) yesterday evening and I have arrived in Chili´s capital, called Santiago. After e metrotrip, a neverending search for a place to stay I managed to find a tiny little space. Whereas the hostal (Hostal Nomad) in Coquimbo was a large colonial Spanish house/ French consul´s residence with wooden floors and doors, orphanagewise beds and music from Edith Piaf, the Beatles and Elvis coming form the boxes this mini-hostal (LuzAzul) is like a double open little apartment.
In Coquimbo I practically had the place to myself, here I sleep in a bed just behind the reception (the hostal is full, that was the only option). I think Cinderella would feel at home. But I can plug in a central heating box, the shower has hot water, the internet use is free and the breakfast is included. Kind of. They put a box with eggs, sandwiches, fruits and hot water can and you can make a breakfast as you please. Chilean way.
I have not encountered yet a real B&B or even a hostal with real continental known breakfast included ;-). Nor here, nor in Peru. We are soooooooooooooooooo spoilt :-D. That would be an understatement by the way.
